Running: My New Found Passion
I have been participating in different 5K runs (race) lately and I have to admit, I’m HAVING FUN!
As we age, our metabolism slows down and we are prone to high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol and triglycerides, and fatty liver. Not to mention the bulging tummy’s that make us look like walking tadpoles. Thus, aside from diet, I have to engage in physical activity to increase my metabolism as well as good cholesterol .
Why Run?
Running is a good way to burn fat, expand your lungs and exercise your heart. Admittedly, just a thought of running 5k scares me. I asked my self, “can I make it?” So I challenged myself to finish a 5k run without walking. My goal is to endure the run and build resistance, not speed. So I ran on my own pace and competed with myself, competed against the thought that I will not be able to last, and will end up walking. Well, my first 5k run was with the GMA 7 sponsored “Tatakbo ka ba?” and I FINISHED IT
