Another TV Appearance

Earlier this day, we completed a taping for the 5 min. segment of  Go Negosyo Big Time.

This is my second TV appearance since I began blogging. The first one when we promoted in an early morning show the 1st HR Philippines Congress. This time around, I have to share my insights about the importance of employee appraisal. I have to admit, the lights and camera made me a little nervous.

How To Live During Global Financial Crisis

In light of the impending global economic crisis courtesy of the US economy, how should a Jesus freak, like me, live?

(1) Is this a time to be afraid? And (2) What should I do?

Like life, there is a cycle for economic activity, a time for a great economic boom, and a time for crisis too.

In the Philippines, I heard there is at least one economic crisis every decade. In the 70’s, it happened on 1975 triggered by oil.  In the 80’s it happened after Aquino was assassinated on 1983. On the 90’s it started at around 1997 or 1998 brought about by financial speculators. And we are about to face another one in a global magnitude.

This, however, should not be a cause for Christians to be afraid.

Why? Because this is an opportunity for the transfer of wealth to take place.

A good man leaves an inheritance for his children’s children, but a sinner’s wealth is stored up for the righteous. Proverbs 13:22

When a person is saved by grace thru Jesus, and forgiven, s/he is a changed wo/man. This set in motion the  principles of prosperity to work.  a changed behavior = changed lifestyle = wealth accumulation or transfer

The 2nd Wealthiest Nation In Asia

This video is must see for all Filipinos. Specially those, like me, have no recollection of the Philippines when it was the 2nd wealthiest nation in Asia, after Japan.  Citizens of other countries, like Henry Sy Sr ( a Chinese-Filipino who became one of the wealthiest man in the world) is a poor boy then from China migrated to the Philippines in search for a better future. He found his future and grew his business empire  here. He and his family kept believing in the potential of the Philippines despite criticism from other Filipinos who gave up and migrated to another country.

The Philippines was envied by other Asian nations then. Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan and South Korea don’t ring a bell during those times.

Look at how developed we were before the 2nd World War. No wonder Japan invaded us despite the fact that  Manila is supposed to be an open city.

Pilipinas Circa ‘70

Manila Bay

A view of Manila Bay, then

On Sept. 21, the Philippines will once again remember the declaration of martial law on 1972 by then President Ferdinand Marcos. This is not a political post, though, just wanna share my recollection of the Philippines circa 70s, as I remember martial law from the eyes of a small kid.

MUSIC

Tunog Maynila, in my opinion, is the golden years and the best of OPM, so far. Pinoy songs are highly appreciated then, be it rock, pop, disco or love songs. We have Boyfriends,  local version of Bee Gees. Hagibis, local version of Village People.  And we have legendary rock groups like  Juan Dela Cruz Band and Hotdogs. Not to be lef behind are VST and Co. , Cinderella, Asin, Apo Hiking Society. Known solo performers then are Sampaguita, , Mike Hanopol, Hadji Alejandro, Basil Valdez, Leah Navarro, Imelda Papin, Rico J. Puno and Claire Dela Fuente. Songs from these artists bring back good memories of the past

ANIME

Our generations’ anime are Voltes V, Mazinger Z, Daimos, Speedy Gonzales, Ballatac, Super Friends (Justice League now). Most of these cartoon shows were banned by Marcos because it affected daw the study habits of children. We also look forward to RPN 9’s Saturday Fun Machine, a marathon of cartoon show.

SPORTS

Even as a child, I was able to follow the rivalry of Crispa and Toyota of the old PBA. A golden, year, I would say of the PBA. I also recalled that Ali and Frazier fought at Araneta Coliseum dubbed as “thrilla in Manila.

Get Hired Not Fired For Blogging

Last week, I got a call and email from strangers.

One head hunter who got hold of my contact details thru this blog sent an email and requested for a comprehensive copy of my CV. An executive requirement of another company fits my credentials, according to the sender. I declined the request with due respect to my present employer.

On the other hand, an officer of a company employing 1000 employees called and invited me to facilitate a  Substance Abuse orientation for a fee. The guy Googled “drug abuse” and ended up in  the Drug Abuse series of this blog. Though this is an earning opportunity, I also declined since activities are not intertwined and policies and procedures on the item is not yet in place.
