What is My Sandbox?

My Sandbox, a brain child of SMART Comm., is another social networking site like facebook, multiply and friendster. Unlike the other social networking site, My Sandbox is also an online content store where you can buy music and games. Apart from this, it promotes mobile blogging where sharing of photos and videos are made easier. Of course, access to mobile blogging is via the SMART platform. But purchase of online content is made easier because you can charge it either to your pre paid or post paid subscription with SMART.

I was at Powerbooks yesterday and had a chance to meet in person, Joy Rojas, who is set to fly to the US to become the first South East Asian woman and first Filipina to run from California to New york. She hopes to run a total of 5,000 km, from May to September of 2009.

As blogger and web 2.o enthusiast, I bumped into tons of information in the net, both junk and quality sites. But more often than not, junk sites are more visible and aggressive.

I find it amusing that groups and some individuals will make the extra effort to make their advocacy and products known by any means, even at the inconvenience of others. And spammers, no doubt, are extra active these days.

I think it’s also about time to create value adding sites, those that attempt to make a difference or attempt to build people and community. I don’t mean you got to have a religious site, because a value adding blog jeducates, helps to be self sustaining, promotes social responsibility, empowers and inspire.

I was in the office when I received an email about the hostage taking in Manila (a portable AM Radio would have been faster). I Followed the link at CNN and discovered it was just across the street from where wifey is working. I gave her a call and she confirmed the hostage taking. I almost rushed to her but she assured me that everything is peaceful in the area sans the resulting traffic.

My heart goes with the parents of the kids, imagine the agony for 10 hours. And I am equally at a loss as to the intentions of the hostage taker, Mr. Jun Ducat.
