A H1N1 Virus

May 14th, 2009

CNN carried this banner story last week : WHO raises pandemic alert to second highest level.

The Swine H1N1 virus  is affecting hundreds of people around the world, creating fear among citizens and govt.  scrambling to cope with the disease which originated in Mexico. As of this writing, more countries in Europe  and the West are affected by the virus. No reported incidents yet in the Philippines. But what puzzled authorities is the way the virus is spreading in progressive countries where   young and healthy citizens are getting infected, in contrast to the pandemics in the past.

Accordingly, this virus is a combination of 3 strains– swine influenza, avian influenza and human influenza. It was still unclear how the virus was transmitted to humans, but what is certain is the the virus had mutated and  humans don’t have natural defenses on this, yet.

Muscle Gain And Hair Loss

January 20th, 2008

Last night was a big night for my employer, together with company executives and senior managers, suppliers and tenants, and friendly competitors, the year long 50th Anniversary celebration commenced with a banquet, exhibit and musicale presentation about the life of the company’s founder . Lucky me, mine is just a case of receding hairline, and when someone tease that my forehead is similar to Steven Seagull or Nicolas Cage, I take this as compliment. My attending barber/consultant said he did not pursue the transplant because the procedure is unclear and his queries were not addressed, not to mention the cost.

Signs Of Age

January 8th, 2008

While at Baguio last week, my family met old friends. These dudes are former colleagues and together, we went thru interesting but value adding experiences during our internship. Now that we have our own family, signs that we are getting *ehem* older are becoming evident– tummies getting bigger and receding hairline and/or balding.

To compensate for the slow metabolism, I am doing regular workouts in a fitness club near SM Mall of Asia. My wife and kids has kept me motivated. Not because I am figure conscious, but I want to be in tip top shape for them.
