iTunes U : Learning Made Easy

December 27, 2010 · by Sonnie · eEducation, eProductivity

One of my goals next year is to teach in the academe, and with that,  to personally evolve and continuously learn.

Unknown to many, there is a cheap way to access tons of quality materials from Stanford, Oxford, Yale and more.  Videocasts, slidecasts and podcasts can be downloaded for FREE, provided you have an internet access and a device to store and access the materials during your most convenient time. I’ve been hearing this for quite a time now from a cool Pastor [David Sumrall] but unable to check it until today because I’m in need for some research materials.

I am talking about iTunes U [itunes university]. From their web page, it says

iTunes U — a powerful distribution system for everything from lectures to language lessons, films to labs, audiobooks to tours — is an innovative way to get educational content into the hands of students

As I write this post, I am also downloading tons of materials on leadership, social media and web safety. Can’t wait to get my hands on economics.

Here are the steps to get access to these materials:

  1. Pre requisite 1:  You need to have  iTunes running in your computer [or the computer where you will download these]. If you’re a Mac user like me, this should not be a problem. For windows user, you can download the windows version here.
  2. Pre requisite 2:  You need an Apple ID . You can get one here.
  3. After these 2 are met,  open your iTunes application.
  4. Sign in with your apple ID
  5. From the tabs or left side bar, look for “iTunes Store”, then  click.
  6. On the iTunes Store interface, look for the “iTunes U” on the tab and click
  7. Browse, listen or download. Enjoy to your hearts, errrr, your brains delight.

If you want to access these using an ipad or iphone, you can watch the instructional video here.

This is epic coolness :)
