Allow me to share with you the teaching of Dr. David Sumrall of Cathedral of Praise on January 18, 2009. This is with the assumption that the Christian is a regular tither.
1. Commit to daiIy devotion
Job 8:13-18 13 Such is the destiny of all who forget God; so perishes the hope of the godless. 14 What he trusts in is fragile [a] ;what he relies on is a spider’s web. 15 He leans on his web, but it gives way; he clings to it, but it does not hold. 16 He is like a well-watered plant in the sunshine, spreading its shoots over the garden; 17 it entwines its roots around a pile of rocks and looks for a place among the stones. 18 But when it is torn from its spot, that place disowns it and says, ‘I never saw you.’
2. Commit to regular Church attendance and serve God
Neh 13:14- Remember me for this, O my God, and do not blot out what I have so faithfully done for the house of my God and its services.
3. Commit to hard work
Prov. 10:4- Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth.
4. Commit to a righteous life
Ps 92:12- The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon;
Ps 58:9- Before your pots can feel the heat of the thorns— whether they be green or dry—the wicked will be swept away.

Thank you for your tips for Christians during the recession. I hope that Christians do not equate with righteousness with financial wealth. We are not righteous. I think it’s important to remember that we are not employed by God– we don’t work for Him for reward, but rather righteousness is required and we are indebted to Him for His goodness.

This is true for me. Work hard and smart. At end of the day, pray hard.
That works for me.
Have a great day!
