When The Seniors Have Fun

Last night, wifey and myself accompanied our parents to watch the “Buckingham and The Happenings” concert at Aliw Theater.

It was supposedly a treat for my folks since the artists came from their generation. It’ll surely bring back the memories of the 60’s, I thought. Though at the back of my mind, am preparing myself to a boring evening. But I was dead wrong. The concert was FUN.

Aside from the original music of the Buckinghams and Happenings, scores of songs by the Beach Boys and Young Rascals were also performed. I never thought that the music of the 60’s are electrifying and though am not familiar with the songs, the beat can make you dance.

In attendance are some of the who’s who in Philippine politics, celebrities and even business luminaries.   Have a peek at the meet & greet with the artists at the lobby after the concert.

Don’t you just love it when your expectations are completely blown out of the water? And what makes it such a great story is that it was with your parents!

Yup, better have realistic expectation and celebrate when achieved than expect much but get frustrated. A basic principle in life.

Sonnie,
Thanks so much for the posting–I could not see the pictures well because of the size on my computer. Can you tell me how many people were there that night you went? I dont’ know how many the Aliw theatre seats. Was it full and sold out? Also how did you find out about the concert to get tickets? I would have really enjoyed being at the concert that night. I also really like the music of The Happenings. Did anyone sell CDs or videos that night to where I could order them now? I don’t know who the promoters were to contact. Any info you can help me to know more about the sights and sounds that night would be so appreciated. Thanks, Phyllis

Hi Phylis,

Am not sure if it’s sold out because my understanding it’ll be a series of concert. I would say venue was 50-60% filled, and we watched on their first weekend.

Yes CDs were sold at the lobby and fans ganged on the artists for some photos and autographs.

The sponsor of the event is Steve O Neil Productions, am not sure though the contact details. Perhaps you can do a google search for either Aliw Theater of the outfit itself to get some leads.

Hope I was able to help
