A Bloggers Dream

A friend once asked for assistance to start a blog, and I suggested to start one with his own domain and have a self hosted blog. I told him this will spare him from the trouble I went thru when I transferred my subscribers and regular readers from a public hosted blog to my own.

I believe every blogger’s dream is to have their own domain and to have a self hosted blog. And like an icing on cake, for their blog to generate income.

I started blogging using Google’s Blogspot before I tried WordPress. I also maintained an account at Multiply. For copyright reasons, I planned to have my own domain and have a self hosted blog. And as my regular readers already know, I submitted this blog still hosted then at WordPress for evaluation. Afterwards, this blog became one of the recipients of free .com.ph domain. The sponsorship is now on the 3rd yea.

If you are a serious blogger, before your site get the substantial Alexa ranking and Google’s PR, purchase your own domain and look for a good web hosting provider. A good provider is the one who can assist you in your technical and upgrading requirements. Likewise, will keep your site up 24/7. And If downtime is inevitable, it will not take more than 2 hours. This matters specially when your blog is generating income. Advertisers and readers are turned off when your site s frequently off line.

Do not limit yourself on your search, there are good local as well as international providers who can give you your money’s worth. Be keen on the added value like the support, freebies, assistance for newbies and alike. This will benefit you and your blog in the long run.
