What you have just described was something a friend of mine said to me earlier. He believes its the concept of pity for the weak and pity for the strong. At any point of time, depending on the circumstance, you find yourself pitying either the strong or the weak. There is never a balance. This is the general form of judgement that people take.

Depending on whether they like you or not, whether your values are similar to theirs or not, the subject in question and sometimes even their own circumstance, you would find them either finding you right or wrong.

These prejudices will remain and on a level they are quite healthy. At least people have opinions.
