Blog Awards and WordCamp Philippines

September will be a busy month for bloggers as 2 big blogging events are set to unfold.

• September 6, 2008  — The 1st ever WordCamp Philippines at College of St. Benilde, DLSU.
• September 21, 2008– The 2nd Philippine Blog Awards at One Esplanade.

WordCamp in the Philippines — the first in Southeast Asia!

WordCamp is the premier event for WordPress users and developers. WordPress is open source, and therefore has a large community dedicated to advancing its development. And so, WordCamp is the best venue for WP enthusiasts to come together and get updated on the latest.  Having been used to WP since I had my own domain, I am attending to learn beyond the basics. The one day event caters to both geeks and non geeks. Please check the schedule for details.

The 2nd Philipine Blog Awards, on the other hand is the continuation of the noble project conceived in the latter part of 2006 to recognize quality content in the Philippine blogosphere. The main propagators of this project involved Abe Olandres, Gail de la Cruz – Villanueva and Jayvee Fernandez, three individuals involved in different areas of online media. Though they are involved in their own projects, they have since become attracted to a common passion of organizing the Filipino blogosphere and help give Filipinos a louder voice in cyberspace.

This blog is one of the finalists of the inaugural edition.
