Burger King and Blogging

I once was a fan of Burger King because of it’s grilled burger and free flowing drinks. But because it repackaged it’s products to compete with Wendy’s and Jollibee, I turned to Carls. But Carl’s Burger is no longer in the market, Brother’s Burger and Kenny Roger’s grilled burger became an alternate favorites.

I received an invite to try the new BK, this   “Have your Way at BK” event was co-sponsored by Yehey! I chose the BK outlet at SM Mall of Asia and brought wifey and 2 kids.

Allow me to share our experience:

  • We arrived at around 3 PM and inquired about the event, but the manager is at a lost and was not aware of  such marketing promo.
  • I tried to connect thru their wifi but the network is congested. I connected via SMART 3G just to show them the email confirmation I got from the organizers.
  • Finally they’re able to get their act together. I was able to try their wifi as well.
  • They served us the “Awesome Foursome” package, a complete meal with burger, drinks, fries/onion rings and sundae. My only complaint is the small serving of Whopper Jr. It gotten real small. It’s like a “toddler” burger.
  • I have to commend them though, for a superb service. There is a roving crew that will offer you cold water while waiting for your order.
  • Their staffs are more than attentive to the customers. They initiate conversation.
  • Wi-fi is free, making their resto a great hangout for bloggers. At SM Mall Of Asia, they can accommodate up to 100 wi-fi connections.
  • On top of the charging station for various model of cell phones, they also provide free battery charging for play station, i-pod and alike.
  • They also have a Whopper REEL flat tv where play a full length movie.

Looks like BK is out to recapture the market of young people and yuppies. I have to admit that the service they provide improved.

maggie’s last blog post..Two Personal Notes (An Award and A Notification)

Hi Maggie,

What will make me comeback to BK is it’s free wi-fi and the above average customer service.

do all their branches have wifi?

I think so…

Wow, BK is sure different here. We used to eat BK all the time, probably at least once every week or two. We went to BK 2 years ago after coming back to Canada from living in the US for a bit. This restaurant was not very busy yet every single table was dirty, the buns were so dry I swear they must have left them sitting out on the counter overnight, and even thought he line-up had only 2 people ahead of us, the people behind the counter were so clueless as to what they were doing that it took 20 minutes for us to get to place our order(we almost left but by then had a major hankering for a whopper). We were so disgusted that we didn’t go back until just a few weeks ago, we decided we felt like trying it again, what a mistake! We just wanted to pick it up and bring it home to eat, so we go into the drive-thru and see signs saying “drive-thru will be close on …..”, we though ok whatever, the date on the signs was the day before. So we pull up to place our order(the drive-thru was not blocked off or anything) and someone comes on saying “drive-thru is close”, no sorry or anything, I said back “well your signs say the 15th, today is the 16th”, nobody bothered to reply. We went to A & W instead, had excellent service and had our food in no time. I went online to send an email with my disgust with BK and can you believe they don’t even accept emails, you can’t even find an email for them, you have to call a 1-800 number. I am not about to sit waiting on the phone(I hate talking on the phone). Let’s just say my family will NEVER eat at BK again, I’m sorry we were even going to give them another try. I have never seen a restaurant go downhill so fast, especially a big chain like that! I hate McDonalds, but I will take McD’s anyday now over BK.

Sorry to make a novel in your comment area lol, I just wanted to share my BK experience.

Jolene’s last blog post..Men, you don’t want to read!

Hi Jolene,

Hmmm, I thought service is given more emphasis in the west?

I had a wonderful visit to my family and friends in the Philippines last month. But it disappointed me when I ate at BK MOA,where a lot of people using internet inside the fastfood restaurant which is most of them are not customer.I was diappointed in a way I don’t have even a table to place my food.My mother had to sit on other restaurant across to sit(she is 77).I asked one guy if I could share the table but he said big NO! He just using an internet not even a customer.Philippines have cheapest internet services compare here in America, why people have to spend a time to use internet at the cafe or restaurant?

Hi Gina,

That was an unfortunate experience and Sorry to hear that. Free wi-fi is a hit among bloggers and student alike. It’s common for studes and yuppies to hang out on establishment with wi-fi. They can surf all they want after food purchase.

But management of BK should have assisted you to find a seat and politely talk to the non eating customers.
