Update 6/23/08 11:00 AM:
Class suspension was upgraded, college level now included. Still cloudy, but the sun briefly showed up, most areas with floods have receded. More survivors are either found or rescued from the sunken ferry. Life is almost back to normal, sans those affected. The damage on crops may put pressure on the price of rice and vegetable. Please pray for the passengers of MV Princess, their families and the rescue team.

Update 8:00 PM:
Classes are suspended , up to High school all levels, tomorrow in Metro. Some colleges declared class suspension as well. No signs of life yet on the site where a passenger ship carrying 700 passengers sank. Likewise, my family has to contend with wet laundries all over the house. Our laundry area at the roof deck was wrecked.

Update 2:30 PM:

Still raining, as of this writing. We just came home from our regular Sunday activities and we have noticed heavy floodings in Metro. The reported passenger cruise, MV Princes that sank with all passengers feared dead is all over the news. Frank, also known globally as Fengshen, is leaving the country with death and destruction along it’s path. We got a little lucky because our electricity was restored at around 9:30 AM. Most places in Metro are still without power.

Update 10:00 AM:
Electricity, phone and DSL are now restored, off we go to church. The violent wind is gone. But we have to contend with rains. Thank God it’s not as strong as Xangsane (Milenyo).
Update 6:35 AM:

The sound of violent wind have rendered us sleepless. For one, I was hoping that no trees will fall on my car, which happened in another vehicle parked 3 spaces from where I’m parked. Electricity, telephone line and internet connection is down at the moment. Am using the battery of my lap top and connected to SMART 3G via my Nokia phone just to update this post.

I was awaken by the strong rushing winds of typhoon Frank, international code name Fengshen, with maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 150 kilometers per hour near the center. Signal # 3 is up in Metro Manila. This is the first strong typhoon in the capital after Xangsane (Milenyo). Several deaths and damages has been reported already from the provinces where this storm passed thru.
Please pray for the safety of lives and property.
I’ve been reading a lot of blogs from the Philippines through EntreCard, and when I heard on the news about Typhoon Frank, I was worried about my distant blogging friends.
Thank you for your great write-up about the storm. I am glad you are safe and I look forward to hearing more.
Nakakalungkot pero ano ang magagawa natin kung nature ang nagalit

I have just returned yesterday (Tuesday – June 24) from a short term mission to Manila and experienced Typhoon Frankie with you! My wife back home here in Illinois found your blog and appreciated your updates!
We served in the Valley Golf area – Rizal area and with my missionary friend Vince Burke, who serves as elder at Christ Commission Foundation. I brought 10 high school students and 5 adult leaders and enjoyed serving for 12 days in Manila!
We did not feel any danger in the storm and are sad that the storm did so much damage and took so many lives. God bless you as you faithfully follow Jesus on the other side of the world!

Hi Jeff,
Glad to know my blog was able to somehow lessen the anxiety of your wife during the typhoon. God is good and he will always protect us. God bless your family bro and your work for the kingdom and the King.
