Father’s Day & The Police

As expected, different shops had their marketing gig to cash on the wives and children who wish to honor their dad on this special day.

But you know what? The Manila Police District, yeah, Manila’s Finest, performed a mini concert at SM City Manila’s entertainment area. Am not sure if the the Southern Police District have theirs at SM Mall Of Asia, or the other districts have their own gig groups.

I was listening from a resto  where we are having early dinner and I can’t help but to go out several times to look at the police officers from the 2nd  level of the mall, perform live.  The men and women in uniform are already in their late 30′s and early 40′s but they’re  so cool playing the drums, electric guitar and singing songs popularized in the 80′s and 90′s like “Some Guys have all the luck” by Rod Steward. They are also handing out caps for the fathers and senior citizens at the mall.

From the back drop, looks like this is part of the ” Mamang Pulis” project of the present Police Chief to bring the policie closer to the people.

This is not a bad idea as long as the peace and order is well managed.

  1. wow! were they good? It’s nice to know that they do something different from their usual job, and I hope that those Police are not “kotong officers” lol!

  2. Hi Manilenya,

Yeah, they’re good. And because they are police officers, they provide good entertainment.

  3. brilliant idea! the military always had good reserves when it comes to music. i remember in my hometown where the main performers in any arranged public concerts are the men in uniform.

  4. It’s a cool idea! It will help them to have a good impression . I am happy to know that aside from giving protection, they also provide entertainment. Good job men in uniform!
