My Blog Was Hacked!

Apologies to Entrecard buddies, subscribers and visitors who failed to access this site. This blog was hacked resulting into downtime, a long one . Someone found a “window” at my wp-content folder thru a plugin (though I have disabled this one long time ago). The hacker managed to place a script in my index php resulting to cache-ing issues and downtime. Thanks to Yuga and Julius, I was assisted to put this blog up and kicking again. Though I’m knowledgeable in electronics, I have to admit I am a green horn on matters like these.

Let me share with you the advise given by e-buddies to prevent this from happening again. By the way, this blog is using WordPress version 2.5

  1. Minimize use of plugins.
  2. Uninstall and delete plugins (from your plugin folder) if will never be used again.
  3. Upload a blank index.html to your plugin folder to prevent a hack.
  4. Clean your php file from any traces of your plugin after disabling/deleting.

wordpress blogs tend to get hacked these days. I have so many blogs. It’s so hard to keep track of these hacks. I should place a blank index.html . Thanks for the tip.

Wow, I’ll be putting that blank dummy index.html file soon. I never thought that blogs can be hacked this way that hackers can put some codes to affect your blog’s exposure to the worldwide web.

I’m still using the older version of wordpress though…

    All,

This is the 2nd time my blog was hacked, the 1st one when I was still using 2.3 version. It seems other bloggers have fun bringing down hapless blogs.
