Kids and Summer

Since it’s summer season (vacation season for kids in the Philippines), we allow them to play more and enjoy childhood. I even bought them a new game for their playstation, a while back a new game controller. Since PS2 is the most used and abused gadget now at home, we regularly check the connectors and hdmi cables if still in good order.

Well, it doesn’t mean kids live like a king, they still have the usual responsibilities. My son washed my car about 3 days, the bag man (in charge of throwing the garbage), cleans the electric fan and other dirty jobs fit for a boy. Daughter is still in charge of cleaning the utensils and housekeeping of the house. While I do not want to strip them of their childhood, I do not want them either to grow up like a bum. It’s a little tough balancing the two because while I want to give them a happy life, wifey and I would like proper values like ” there is no such thing as free lunch” and “responsibility” to be inculcated in them. They requested us to go to the beach, we give them first a little project at home then we schedule a family field trip.

Raising kids is fun.

My kids also spend their summer at home mostly playing computer games but since their PC is not working they’ll have to settle for that old PS1.

Melo’s last blog post..Our New Home

The only problem I have with these games are the proliferation of violence
