PR Downgrade and SERP Penalty
Loading ...The recent round of PR update has resulted to more blogs getting the ire of the big G, either thru PR downgrade or SERP rankings dropped.
As I go thru other blogs, it appeared that G is still running after those who do paid reviews and buying or selling links. Since most advertisers do not want the rel=nofollow tag on their link, bloggers have to choose either to please G or earn money other than Ad sense.
Paid links and/or reviews has become a blog discomfort that make bloggers with high PR uncomfortable. Like acne that needs acne treatment, paid links and reviews, unless placed with no follow tag, will soon get the attention of G and slap the blog with PR 0 and/or SERP drop.
Aside from relying on the PR algorithm, more and more are either looking or introducing alternative tools to measure the worth of a blog. Bloggers may easily accept a PR drop as long as the traffic is not affected, but an SERP penalty will definitely hurt the traffic. I guess as long as the e-economy exist, problems like this is bound to happen.
With this in mind, do you think PR is still relevant on the e-economy?

two of my blogs (including leftover thoughts which used to have PR4) were penalized and got PR0. I expected it so I started a new one which will not have a paid post so that in the next update, I’d have PR.
It would be harder for my new posts to get on top of SERP. Though I still see my blog on page 1 of some keyword searches.
