One more week and the duel between Filipino ring sensation Manny Pacquiao and Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez will unfold. The last time they met, Pacquiao floored Marquez thrice on the 1st round but the bout ended in draw. Initial plan for a rematch did not materialize because of money matters prompting Pacquiao to face Eric Morales and lost. But since then, Manny recovered and became one of the greatest boxer the world had. Marquez, on the other hand, fought less prestigious fights but was able to return to the limelight when he dethroned Marco Antonio Barerra.

This rematch, in my opinion, can be a classic match, but not as excited as the Morales-Pacquiao triology. Perhaps because Morales is more popular than Marquez, or Pacquiao’s popularity among Filipinos diminished because of politics and his escapades with women.

But majority are still following Pacquiao, one of the boss’ of my wife will fly to Vegas to watch the fight live. Likewise, as soon as I received my allocation of free passes for the live satellite feed, I also received calls from friends, right and left, to get a piece of the live action for free.

If you can afford, fly to the US of A and check in to any of the Vegas hotels to support Manny. Or you can enjoy the action as it unfolds via live satellite feed in selected SM Theaters. Or just be contented listening to live radio broadcast or delayed telecast in free TV.

Manny may no longer be an idol worth emulating, but he still is a Filipino worth supporting for giving the Filipinos and the Philippines honor.
