PayPal Withdrawals In The Philippines
For the benefit of PayPal users in the Philippines who have yet to withdraw their funds , allow me to share my own withdrawal experiences on the following services:
- Local Bank (EPCI) BDO
- Via EON
- Via Xoom
But first, to those who have no inkling of what PayPal is, PayPal is an all in one secured payment solution. Head over h e r e to learn more.
Web 2.0 has opened great opportunity for bloggers in the Philippines to earn in US $ thru various means. In the absence of PayPal, payments are done in check and sent thru snail mail. Based on some reports, there were checks that were stolen while in transit but successfully withdrawn by scrupulous individuals. When PayPal opened it’s services in the Philippines, receiving payments has become easier. However, withdrawing the hard earned $$ may be troublesome at the beginning.
How was my experience in withdrawing money from PayPal?
Via Xoom
- I transferred funds to myself, and have it picked up at a BDO branch.
- Though I got the money in 24 hours, waiting for Xoom’s confirmation takes a while.
- I find this also more expensive because I was charged separately by PayPal and Xoom, both in $.
- In another instance, when I repeated the transfer, Xoom cancelled my request citing a violation to their terms. When I emailed them to clarify, they can’t cite the specific provision, they advised me instead to call their customer service.
Via Local Bank
- I used my EPCI turned BDO account as my primary bank
- 3 days after I made the transfer, the transaction was reportedly “completed”.
- But the money was not reflected nor deposited to my BDO account.
- I emailed PayPal twice and had several conversation with BDO customer service agents. Unfortunately, BDO is at a loss since they are only at the receiving end.
- It took 17 days before I got the feedback from PayPal. My money was returned and got penalized for the wrong details of the bank, the bank account was non existent.
- But the bank account I gave is the new account number provided by BDO (since EPCI merged with BDO, my old EPCI account was closed and a new BDO account was given).
- When BDO agents called to tell me that the transaction ID I gave was non existent, I also told them that I received email from PayPal earlier. My transaction was voided for giving PayPal a wrong account number. The new BDO number they gave was not recognized when PayPal initiated the transfer. BDO agents promise to look into the matter and give me feedback at a latter time.
- I got charged $ 5.00 for the transfer.
- The transfer was reported to be completed only after 10 days.
- But the money was only deposited to my EON account after another 4 days, or a total of 14 days.
- I was also advised by their CSR that I can also enroll EON as a primary local bank, to save on the service charges. But I have not tried this yet.
I hope as this service mature in the Philippines, the birth hassles we are experiencing will be ironed out. PayPal will boost the e-commerce here, I believe.

Hi Amy,
I have no idea, PayPal’s explanation is they have an ongoing system upgrade.
I am based in Manila.
I successfully transferred funds to my BPI account. Transaction in paypal was done Tuesday evening, the money cleared on Monday the next week. That’s 5-6 days.

Strange, I never had any problems in transferring money from PayPal to my EON account.
The real problem I had was, there was no money to transfer! ![]()

speaking of which, when i tried a paypal dispute, i did get this note:
“Your payment is still in flight. You may dispute the transaction once the seller has recieved payment. Wait fifteen minutes and try again.”
which either means there really is an error OR it takes more than 7 days for a transaction. my first transaction took place in february 11 2008! thats almost a month ago.

Hi Jayvee,
Since that experience, I have not used bank transfer anymore. EON is more reliable now. Max of 4 days, min of 2.

Hi!
I would just like to ask if the system’s adjustment of unionbank and paypal is over..
I was going to purchase something from the internet but my card got denied and said that I should call my card company… I did and they said it was the latter and that they can’t pin-point when it’ll be up and running again…
It’s kind of frustrating much so because this transactions are not for me but are orders from my clients… hope they patch this up real soon…
Hello po,
According to the Unionbank website when withdrawing funds into your EON, you select daw yung option “Credit Card or Debit Card”, wherein you will also be charge $5.
But since EON is also a Savings Account, then we can as well use the option “Withdraw To A Local Banks”, which is only charged for 50 pesos. Has anybody tried this option for your EON? Pwede naman di po ba?
Thanks po…. Newbie po sa Paypal and Internet Marketing…
I have withdrawed from paypal using my eon account twice already. I used the local bank option and the given UBP bank code by paypal so I was only charged by P50. My first withdrawal took 4 days while the second only 2 days. Maybe I’m just lucky. ![]()

i want to withdraw money but they are asking me credit card something..numbers i dont have credit card
Hi there. I am very new in this paypal thing. I used to recieve payment for my work thru HSBC. Then the company I am connected with started paying us thru paypal. I have been able accept the payment but unsuccessful in transferring it to my bank account. My primary bank account was with BPI but I do not have a credit/debit card there. I entered my husband’s BDO debit card with a mastercard logo since paypal customer service said thatany credit/debit card with mastercard or visa logo will do. However, the system did not accept it. I do not have the slightest idea why since I got no answer from BDO also when I inquired. Wht is the best way to withdraw money from paypal? It is realy getting so frustrating. Thank you so much. I hope you can help me out.
Hi Mariecon,
You have 3 options to withdraw money from PayPal,
(1) via Xoom.com
(2) via EON Cyber Account (Union Bank)
(3) via your local bank
You can get the details here:
