Can’t Do Without Alexa?
Loading ...There are other players in the rankings business, but Alexa get the most attention from webmasters, publishers and bloggers.
Alexa measures the traffic and reach of a site through its tool bar. But because not all users of the world wide web are using Alexa’s Tool Bar, rankings are possibly inaccurate.
Though widely contested, Alexa rankings play an important role in determining the “market value” of a site. Publishers earn more with a better Alexa rank, advertisers used Alexa to determine the traffic of a site. This is the reason why bloggers, publishers and webmasters pay close attention to their Alexa ranking.
Do we have better alternative than Alexa?
If better payout is not the reason, then Compete is a good alternative. They claim to have the “real science” when determining a rank. And I personally find their site analytics cool because you can compare the performance of your own site with another. Compete helps you personally benefit from click-sharing and community participation. Whether it’s warning you of dangerous sites, profiling and estimating popularity for each Web site you visit, or showing you promotion codes that will save you money - Compete wants to help create a more trusted, transparent, and valuable Internet.
