Are Blog Metrics Important?

January 26th, 2008 · by Sonnie · Ask Sonnie, Blogging

If you’re into blogging for a while, then by this time, you already understand what Google Page Rank is, as well as Technorati, Alexa, Feedburner, Feedblitz, etc. These are metric tools, though contested and challenged, are widely accepted to measure the reach, importance and popularity of your blog.

But are they important?

Well it depends in your paradigm. If you’re happy just having your site and expressing your views, with or with out regular readers. Then metrics is not much of importance. On the other hand, if you wish to advance the reach of your advocacy, or if you are positioning your blog to generate income and increase the market value, or as basis for bragging rights, then you should look into the the metrics seriously and make the necessary initiatives and campaigns to improve performance.

I suggest that bloggers look into “all” available tools because groups that offer opportunities to earn have different bases to compute for your blog’s worth. Before submitting your blog for approval, ask or check how they appraise your blog so you can take action, browse and search for tips on how to increase your blog ranking. Then you’ll also increase your income potential.

Enjoy blogging peeps, and happy weekend.
