The Value Of A Blog

I received a text message from a blog buddy about the alleged “breakout” on the ranking of this site from 113 to 59 at ratified.org , I was kinda amaze because I have not done anything extra-ordinary, so I dismissed the report and thought it could be a bug since there are so many blogs out there with more back links. Besides, ranking is not much of an issue to me. I was blog hopping when I bumped into the post of Pinoy Blogero, giving insights as to the probable causes of the new ranking system. And I agreed on his observation.

Improved ranking can bring the bragging rights every blogger (well, almost) aspires. Technorati and Alexa rankings as well as Google’s Page Rank among others meant a lot to a blog. A blog’s popularity attracts advertisers and the authority of a blog determine the cash. Therefore, it is not bad to aspire for a higher ranking/authority and get as many back links, email and feed subscribers, but if the sole basis of a blog’s value and worth are link backs, then it is foggy since link exchanges and link trains can be abused.

I believe there should be broad basis to determine the worth and value of blogs. Link backs are one, average visitors is another, page rank, technorati, alexa, feed subscribers, email subscribers and most importantly, the content of a blog and the added value it offers to the readers. They say good contents attract subscribers, well almost. Because there are many fluff sites but got good rankings

While blogging is fun, and offers an alternate source of income, the blogger should also keep in mind to create a value positive post that will facilitate value positive response from his/her readers. Value is not about religion, it’s the release of positive force that will facilitate acts that will lead to positive results.

Right on, Sonnie. My favorite blog are all very down to earth and have solid content. I hate fluff sites!

Indeed, value plus benefits matter to me the most.

Don’t underestimate the power of links of technorati. Places such as technorati, digg, reddit, are loved by the search engines. Having a link to your site from these sites will surely increase your ranking.

Just to clarify, Ratified.org’s ranking are not based soley on backlinks.

i honestly don’t understand how ranks are being calculated. errrr… I really need to spend some serious time researching how google pagerank, technorati and alexa ranking really work.

It all about the content being offered to the bloggers.Depending on how it is packaged ,you can choose to take it or trash it.Why popute you conscience with materials that don’t add any value to your life as an a person?Wisdom is infinite. We should embrace it and do what is right at all times.
Good day all.
Margaret.
