Value Adding Blogs = Inspiring Others To Inspire Others

After I conclude my “How to lose your job” series (hopefully this week), I will embark on another journey and this time to feature blogs around the world that more or less share my interest– that is to add and/or create value to readers– corporate citizens and entrepreneurs alike in particular.

In business and economic term, one may easily understand what value adding means, but heck, how does value adding apply to blogs?

I run across the post of Ole Eichhorn on similar subject and his insights are worth mentioning

…The most important thing you can do every day is add value.

There’s a spectrum of activities you can perform every day. Some of them are value-neutral – you just do something, and in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t matter. And some of them are value-positive, they actually add value to the world. These are the things you should do. And of course, some of them are value-negative, they subtract value from the world. These are the things you should avoid.

Adding value can be direct – you can create something useful, or fix something which is broken, or find a solution to a problem. It can also be indirect – you can inspire someone else to do something which creates value

… I want to create value, and I want to inspire value creation in the people around me.

Of course there is something even more efficient, which is inspiring others to inspire others. That’s why I wrote this :)

Yes, blogging is habit forming and fun. But in the process, we can choose to avoid value negative posts and move upward from value neutral. Our blogs can fix a problem, educate and empower it’s readers and inspire others to also create value. Thus value adding blogs become viral.

But hey, don’t get me wrong, value adding blogs are not necessarily religious in nature– inspiring others to be netrepreneurs like Yuga is not religious. Neither emulating Angelo, to become a “problogger” or aspire to be like Gail or Jayvee and the rest of the gang. Be a Sir Martin and Teacher Sol who used blogs in education. Or Wilson Ng who blogs about life and entrepreneurship. Or Macalua for educating non-geeks about SEO. Benj, on the otherhand, set an example in making his thoughts known. Not to be left behind is the ever helping Jaypee who help his readers about WordPress themes, plugins and other techie stuffs. We also have Dave’s Philippines Without Borders who adds value to readers by enlightening them on issues pertaining to Philippine economy. Atty. Fred on the other hand, provides insights on fatherhood and educates his readers on relevant aspects of Philippine law.

One religious blog of note is Father Stephen Cuyos’ “Happy Faith“, he used his blog to bring catholic faith alive and relevant to the present generation.

Bloggers have the power on their disposal and may choose to use his/her blogs to add value, in their own little way. This, I suppose, is what bloggers can contribute to make this world a better place to live.

  3. Uy! I didn’t expect to be mentioned here but nevertheless I appreciate it. I’m not a WordPress guru or a CSS ninja, but I do my best to share what I know and help others, especially those who are new to blogging. It feels good knowing that you were able to help someone and hoping that the person you helped will also help somebody else after that. It’s a domino effect. A good deed leads to another. :)

I really admire your effort and purpose in this project and I wish you all the best. God bless! If there’s anything I can do to help, just let me know.
