Teaching My Kids To Blog
What is into blogging that people blog? And what is in me why I want my kids, 10 and 8 years old, to blog?
I created a blog for my son and daughter via wordpress.com and encouraged them to write their thoughts. I would love to see my kids express themselves by the stroke of a pen or keyboard and develop their writing skills early. I do not want them to be like me, their popsie, who can’t spell correctly, can’t organize his thoughts. And must catch up at a later point.
Finally, when they made their first entry, I felt like popping up. It’s like seeing them made their first steps all over again.
I do not wish to see them become professional writers, my goal is to simply train them how to write and to translate their thoughts into words. And of course, to have a depository of their thoughts as they grow and change. I do hope they will continue writing.

Hello Sonnie!
That is a great idea. I have a 7yo son who is so into computers (I mean computer GAMES!). When the time comes, I think he can also do blogging. But, the internet being a “big bad place” at times, parents should “monitor” what kids write in their blogs, or the information they give away, things like that.
More power to your blog!
Hi Sonnie,
I have been visiting your site and enjoy reading your articles. It’s true that our children should learn how to blog. Just like me that I only learn how to blog this year. I have a 5-year old son who is very literate when it comes to computer game but I should teach him how to blog soon.
@ Jules–I visited your blog and find your objective heartwarming.. thanks for frequenting my site, your blog is already added to the HR Philippines blog and I will soon add you to my grazr live blogroll. keep blogging @ Deb– Nice to hear your thoughts again. You’re correct, good thing wordpress has an option to keep blogs off limits to search engines and unwanted lurkers. @ Jaypee– Yeah computer skills aside from games… he he he

I added your group’s blog in my live blogroll. Thank you for your patronizing this blog. I will keep your country in prayer as you enter your
election period.

That’s a great idea! Not only will it help them improve their writing skills and grammar but also with their computer skills.
I can’t wait for the time that I can teach my son to use the computer and start blogging.
