Kiss Of Death

May 19, 2007 · by Sonnie · Citizen Journalism, Current Events, Pilipinas

On my way to work, I was listening to Ted Faylon and Korina Sanchez on AM radio discussing about the looming defeat of Pacquiao and Senator Lim winning on the Manila mayoral race.

The comment of Korina caught my attention– she observed that all those who rode on the popularity of Pacquiao (including Pacquiao) lost on this election. Affiliation and riding on with the popularity of Manny Pacquiao has become a kiss of death. Perhaps true, because I myself was turned off by too much politicking of the Atienza’s as if he has done nothing in Manila. In my opinion, his accomplishments should speak for itself which are a lot, by the way– Roxas Blvd’s Baywalk, the public wet market, the city plazas, Unibersidad de Manila. Likewise, now that Fred Lim is set to take over the governance of Manila, there are also bugging questions that needs an answer.
