Another Dead Blogger
This is the second time I read about a young female blogger who passed away. The first one, I suppose is either from Malaysia or Singapore who blogged about her battle against cancer and lost.
I came to read another one today, courtesy of Dessie. She blogged about the death of a 29 year old young professional working as Partner Support Manager in a company whose product you may be using. The death of another young and vibrant blogger at 29 was due to heart attack. And from the facts given, the death could have been too much (work related) stress.
Work life balance is something that we can’t set aside. The added value we receive from our work or business is nothing compared the the lives of the people dear to us. Much more with our own life.
Come to think of it…..

There are some cultures who value work more than they value their personal lives. Take for Japan for instance.
My first employer after I graduated was one such company. To my previous employers, the only valid reasons for leaves are emergency leaves and sick leaves. Personal leaves for activities such as spending time with one’s family rarely, if ever get approved.
It is also in that company where I learned of the word, KAROUSHI, or death from overwork. (Yeah, it’s a real word which you can look up in a Japanese dictionary.)
Oh well… good thing I’m out of that place.

I can’t imagine myself working to death. Who would want to anyway? One more thing that I would like to add though is that the supervisors of these people shouldn’t put too much pressure on their employees and force them to do overtime
Well, that’s just my point of view.
