Doing their share

Perhaps because of my HR orientation, I became an advocate of Corporate Social Responsibility. And as an individual, I do my small share to make our world a little nice to live on.

I rubbed elbows both with labor and management people who are doing their share to comply with basic labor standards as well as environmental, health and safety requirements. Though social accountability is not confined to labor unions nor entrepreneurs, have you heard of plastic surgeons with a mission?

Because of the nature of their work, and the high end market they serve, it’s easy to assume these professionals may not be into social accountability programs. But these facial plastic and reconstructive surgeons, have embarked on a humanitarian program, in collaboration with other health professionals, that will give opportunity to individuals to overcome the physical limitations placed on them by circumstances beyond their control - deformities at birth, domestic violence, and war.

I browsed their website and discovered they have been to the Philippines, but no specific details as to the outcome and nature of the project.

Social Responsibility is for everyone. You can also do your share regardless of what you do for a living.
