Speak and Surf Surprise

update (12/17/07):

because of difficulty making and connecting calls, and slow internet connections, I finally returned my SnS and discontinued my subscription effective today. A promising product that can’t take off because of frequency limitations.

I have been receiving a lot of search engine referrals and hits for Globe’s Speak and Surf, Henry Sy Sr. and SM Mall of Asia. Hmmm…

Let me to blog more about S n S, and discuss SM, Mall of Asia and Henry Sy at a different time

Am no Globe endorser, it just happened that I blogged about this product line as one of the early users. Anyway, for the sake of the readers and those searching for a review, here’s more:

LANDLINE

  • The product started great. Good signal and crisp voice for the land line.
  • After a month or two, I began to experience choppy signal and intermittent landline connection. Eventually, because of my frequent complaints. The unit was replaced.
  • No problem since then.
  • I did not experience interconnection problem with PLDT and other service providers.
  • We can bring it anywhere and use it as long as there is a signal.
  • After typhoon xangsane (milenyo), this has been proven helpful when landlines are down.
  • DOWNSIDE: Bulky phone unit, caller ID and other services are not yet included in the subscription. Text Messaging is only open to Globe Handyphone subscribers.

INTERNET

  • Initially, the speed is good and no connection problem.
  • I suppose because of the growth of subscribers, speed and stable connection has been affected.
  • Internet service is down for a long time after Taiwan earthquake.
  • Speed is not what it used to be, still faster though, than dial up.

CUSTOMER SERVICE

  • Slow response from technical people
  • CS can not help you with your concern and inquiry
  • CS hotline sometimes not available

Globe innove “aftersale” support is very disappointing because of the super slow response from field technical support. Image I have been calling them daily in following my issue since August 5 and until now no one even a shadow of their personnel seen in my area. Hotliners keep telling on the same update which is very irritating. TECHNICAL SUPPORT IS VERY BAD! It feel’s like fishing out in a huge river where in you don’t know if ther is a fish that will bite on your bait.
