click.jpgLast Saturday, we graced the opening of “The Block”, the new shopping complex inside SM City North EDSA. For readers outside the Philippines, SM City is the first shopping mall of Mr. Henry Sy Sr.that opened in 1986. And because of its success, the malling landscape in the Philippines changed . If SM City North EDSA became the turning point, after 10 years, ShoeMart opened Mall of Asia , SM’s 25th Mall, so far– the mall that hopes to showcase the Philippines best to the world.

Anyway, after the blessing and the opening ceremony, we are privileged to be in the sneak preview of Adam Sandlers movie, “Click” in one of the new theatres of SM Cinema.

The film is more than a comedy or science fiction. It serves as mirror to viewers, specially to young husbands and fathers who would love to give the best life to his wife and kids, but in the process, lose them for not investing time to nurture relationships and for broken promises.

There is more to life than career growth, prosperity and success. What truly matters is love– towards spouse, crazy kids and parents. As a young father myself, the reason I work harder is for my love ones. But the movie successfully conveyed that one’s career can also be the means to lose the people that is so dear to you. And this is the worst effect of corporate slavery.

There are other value adding lessons in the story (and not so good scenes as well), but I will leave it for you to discover. Mentors and life coaches can use the movie.

What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?

Mark 8:36

Hi,

Indeed, the movie is funny…. at the beginng. Towards the end, I cant help but reflect, relate and shed tears.

[…] The realizations I had can be summed up from the two movies I gave a review. Click and The Devil Wears Prada. […]
